The injections work by blocking muscle contractions, and as the injections temporarily paralyse the muscles they reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Does it hurt/is it safe?
There is obviously slight injection-related discomfort although some brands sting more than others during injection. Millions of injections have been performed over the last 30 years so we know the porocedure is safe.
How long does it last
Typically 3-4 months but some brands claim to last for over 6 months
What are the downsides?
Temporary changes in facial movements which cause wrinkles - usually this is intended, but sometimes there can be imbalances. Top up appointments exist for this reason, to balance things out. There can be bruising after injections and there will be some minor lifestyle restrictions for a week or so after treatment.
